in the spirit of dragging my feet, today is zombie day!
as i dread cleaning my house, i ponder more slack and watching shaun of the dead.

luck would have me sitting down before an early copy of doom3 tonight. suffice it to say, i got my game on. even on the relatively crappy test system the game evokes a feeling like no other... SPOOKY SPACE ZOMIES IN SPACE!! heh. seriously though, you'll know after you're running through the twisty dark bowels of the space station with your flashlight out getting surprised by frighteningly real zombies and demons whilst you fumble for the right weapon before they EAT YOUR BRAINS!!! not since aliens has space felt so nasty and this game is at its atmospheric best when the beasties come charging out through splendedly rendered dark into the bobby and laura running in in the woods light ahem. mixing metaphors again. seriously though... the lighting and mood are really special ok?
i didn't get to get very far through the well crafted story of corporate conspiracy and demonic manifestation, but it really serves to keep your head in the game. there's also plenty of geeky inside humor hidden among the clues that lurk in the until-so-recently living crew's trusty pdas.
all told, i liked it better than cats. i would play it again and again. cool story. great mood. solid game play. i only got to play for a short while. just as i got the chain gun... i... damn! ripped away before finding the spookier devils and oozing organic levels. but hey, at least i got to the chain gun. yeah, so i see an upgrade to my machine at home and a copy of doom3 in my future.
