fahrenheit 9/11

so i saw 9/11 and i have to say that the review i saw on slate.com last week was way off base. there were some tear-jerky bits that i might have edited out if i was going to show it to conservative friends to get them to watch it with an open mind and perhaps moore could have gotten a pg-13 by cutting out some of the war carnage and saudi beheadings... but the parts that center on bush and the war on terror are pretty dead on... and for the most part really funny. i challenge you to hold your hand in the fire and after watching the film, tell me that you still feel the same way about our government.

also, to quickly rebuke another criticism... sure the movie is an opinion piece, but making a quick analogy... fahrenheit 9/11 is to documentary as fox news is to news. get out and vote good people!

treo woes

so the other day i suddenly noticed something rattling around inside my treo. i haven't dropped it recently, but yet there's a broken part rolling around. to make matters much worse, it now has the nasty habit of shutting suddenly and completely off, and after two resets comes back on with wireless mode off and ALL OF MY APPS AND DATA GONE!!! wtf?! it's happened 4 times since friday. this is unacceptable!

y'all know i love my treo, but this is frickin' ridiculous.

cheney = sailor?

this was just a rumor yesterday, but today the washington post reports that dick cheney, while on the senate floor for a photo op, told senator patrick leahy , "fuck yourself". isn't cheney a charmer? this was also the day that the senate passed the "defence of decency act" 99 to 1.

treo boombox

so like wow... i impulse bought a tivoli pal last week and it showed up today. it took a bit of futzing to get the impedance right with my treo and stuff... but it's working now and i have to say that it absolutely rocks the house. i see myself getting into lots of trouble this summer with this puppy! viva la treo boombox!

so much happened last week

sheesh. so much happened last week. zombies at coney island, big security con in d.c., bbq festival in nyc, joey's building bash, richie hawtin at the sullivan room til da breaka dawn. all great stuff. maybe if pete gets off his ass we'll see some pictures soon. *cough*

i'm looking forward to a hot and humid week at home in nyc. there's a metric fuckton of movies i want to see... hmm hot and muggy + cool theater = woohoo!

tuggy and dishes both move away soon. sigh.

826nyc tmbg

the marquee is as a good a place to start as any. as you can see, there was a great show last night... a show attended by david, lorelei and i... a show at southpaw in park slope... a show put on by the fine folks responsible for the mcsweeney's and 826 valencia stores. you know - that pirate store on valencia? yeah so they threw a benefit for the kids last night and it was awesome. todd barry was hilariously topical and the blog entry below was a result of his daring the audience to not blog the show. people are wrong played some rockin' ukelele and david cross tried new material on the crowd. then they might be giants rocked the house! so great. we were right up on the stage and got great media of the show.

  

after the party, there was an afterparty a few blocks down the street at the new 826 nyc store strangely at 372 5th ave, not 826, but i digress. the new store is a superhero themed store, and while currently sparse inside, it's a welcome addition to the hood. fun times.
