and the slack goes on. i'm in d.c. right now. just flew in from ny this morning and was in l.a. all weekend. so much travel these days, it's a little crazy. had a great time hanging with zach and neck and shelton and rob and joanne and mike and nicole in l.a. and newport. the weather sucked. i was sick like a monkey, but still a fun time. tomorrow i go home and finally get to hang out with my cat again... then it's amy's party weekend and i fly back to cali, sf this time, on sunday. rocket man.
oh yeah. eventually i'll find my pictures and give some more details. see also, slack.

uh... thanks sebastian
Posted by Pete at 10:46 PM | Comments (4)well in actuality, no. i've been busy as hell lately, but as it pertains to the blog... well yeah... kinda. it's been a big week tho. todd and daniele were here last friday - fun! nick's party at siberia - fun! dad and gene came in for the weekend and dragged me to peter luger for a fabulous steak dinner - fun! oh yeah. wayne and bre got to town late friday too, but i didn't see them until a great dinner party at their west village penthouse with samantha and paul - fun! um. and i've cleaned and mended the entire house so it's nearing perfect - fu... no. rewarding! today i had a cleansing experience at midas well and then followed that with a nice, thorough massage from jen. so much more relaxed this evening... which is a good thing because i leave for l.a. tomorrow. then d.c. then s.f. then whew! wow. this is not sounding relaxed. but it is! really! heh.

Posted by Pete at 05:36 PM | Comments (1)na na na na na na leader! oh wait. hi. i'm supposed to be talking about the upcoming simpsons movie. yep. i'm pretty sure i'll be first in line. i hope it's closer to the south park movie than the beavis and butthead movie in terms of actually being funny/not wussing out. woohoo!
Posted by Pete at 11:58 AM | Comments (3)ok. it's been awhile since i've done any drawing...

MP3 players for AK-47s
A BRITISH-based company is selling MP3 players which can be attached to an assault rifle.
The "AK-MP3" player is built into the ammunition clip of a Kalashnikov and can be swapped with the real magazine.
The device is being advertised on the internet by a Buckinghamshire-based company set up by a group of Russian businessmen who sell audio books.
It comes with enough storage space to hold 3000 audio books or 9000 songs.
Posted by Pete at 11:14 PM | Comments (2)finally put the wraps on a fantastically crazy birthday week. with back to back and concurrent visits from anime, greg, summer and spontaneous sparky, uh i mean zach, my brain is only able to process this.
perhaps i'll recount some birthday tales later. perhaps.
Posted by Pete at 11:36 PM | Comments (2)here we go kids... iron chef morimoto's omakase.
course one: tuna tartare w/ cavier, shallot, wasabi and mountain peach
description: much like what you'd expect from a tuna tartare. the shallots and wasabi added a bold taste and the caviar lent luxuriant texture to this simple starter.
course two: 4 oysters four styles with edible orchid
description: the first oyster i tried with thai fish sauce and jalapeno was hard to choke down. i enjoyed the others, especially the one with the simple minionette.
course three: snapper in hot oil and spices topped w/ micro cilantro
description: easily the best dish of the night. so smooth and tender. the hot oil, spices and soy a prefect complement to the thin slices of snapper. did i mention the micro cilantro? yum!
course four: kampachi w basil oil baby spinach and topped w bonito (tuna)
description: it's too bad that the aioli dominated this otherwise excellent dish. the kampachi was excellent with crispy skin. the basil oil made me want to go whip up a batch of my own.
course five: wasabi yuzu sorbet w wasabi beignet
description: this palatte cleanser was so tasty and tart that i forgot to snap a picture of it before it was gone. the lychee sorbet that follows looks exactly the same though. heh.
course six: pan fried lobster w/ 8 spices. citrus creme fraiche w/ baby vegetables
description: the eight spices and hot oil were tasty and the lobster was fine, but i got the feeling that this was a dish to yank people's money rather than something that i would want to write home about. not sure about the citrus creme fraiche.
course seven: kobe beef foie gras on japanese mountain yam
description: another dish with quailty indredients drizzled with hot oil. i think the chefs are getting tired. the subtlety is fading. too much sauce. perhaps i'm getting jaded at this point in the meal... and a little stuffed too.
course eight: sushi: tuna mackerel eel shrimp kamachi hamachi. not in order
description: of course the sushi at morimoto is excellent. what else would you expect?! endorphins are pumping at this point. could they bring me another plate of that snapper in hot oil?
course nine: lychee sorbet
description: simple. elegant. lychee.
course ten: soba ale cake w white chocolate and mango
description: this was a strange dish. for those who've never had it, soba cake tastes like beer cake. i guess this all worked together - but perhaps this would be better liked by someone with a japanese palatte.
wow. my endorphin levels are peaking. the karim rashid decor is working with the feeling beautifully. am i tripping? i enjoy the friends and the food. thank you to chef morimoto for a lovely evening. hai!
last night was birthday dinner at morimoto in philly. it totally ruled. i took notes and pictures through the whole meal and will post the entire omakase walkthrough soon. in the meantime, here's the link to the photos and a pic of me hamming it up with the iron chef. heh.
