as a funny side note to the skybox story, steve spurrier quit his redskins job today. doh!
Posted by Pete at 08:19 PM | Comments (6)as you probably know, i was back in the d.c. area for christmas this past week. as it turns out, many other sf pals were too... herf and aimee were in baltimore, brent was in laurel, and so were wayne and breanna. on a lark, i bumped my train back to sunday so i could hook up with wayne and breanna and doug and lisa, on saturday night, either in maryland or perhaps in the district. breanna called me around dinner time while i was at the mall and asked if i might want to go see the pro football game that was happening that night... something about box seats? having grown up in the d.c. area, i grew up following the 'skins and having gone to uf, the career of steve spurrier as well. needless to say i ran home, changed and hopped my ass in the car. as it turns out, these weren't box seats, it was a skybox. wayne, breanna, doug and lisa and i had a magnificant time despite the lousy game (31-7 eagles). we followed the game with stories and a big red wine from doug and lisa's ample wine cellar. the next day the 4 of them were off to get crabcakes and tour doug's battleship, the badtz-maru. i quietly slipped away for home and the amtrak back to new york. thanks guys for a great time!
the whirlwind of paper and food is all but over. had a lovely day in rural maryland with the extended family. oh! funny side story. we saw a few flurries of snow yesterday... and it sure didn't look or feel like a snow day. my family lives near camp david and as it turns out, they were using bombers to drop snow for the president. wacky use of taxpayer money, no? oh yeah, so ho ho ho and all of that mess. i truly hope that you're enjoying your holidays. i'm sick, but feeling surprisingly well considering. tonight i hope to hook up w/ wayne and bre and perhaps brent. tomorrow it's back to brooklyn. mmm brooklyn.
Posted by Pete at 02:32 PM | Comments (3)i feel amazing today. it's good that i made the transition back to the east... if only for a while. i really feel that i've returned to the place of my forging and that i'm being cast anew. the inner strength seems to build daily and the painful past, while still lingering in the fringes, now seems to propel me through a brighter morrow rather than drag me down into lame murkiness. life comes into further clarity. albatrosses are cast aside. i just know that something good is gonna happen.
funny. usually the holidays are my worst time of year.
Posted by Pete at 11:28 PM | Comments (6)hi. so i finally got those pics off my camera. check for the new mermaids and princesses as well as the sf recaps on 12/12, 12/13 and 12/14. slacker be gone!
Posted by Pete at 01:39 AM | Comments (5)last night i went out on the wagon for the first time. it was strange to be sure. i went trekking off to the coral room to see the mashup stylings of princess superstar. she didn't play 'fuck me on the dancefloor', but she did kick major ass. besides there were many dancing couples that looked like they were going to do it anyway.
the coral room is pretty rad. a huge fish tank dominates the bar, and every once in a while, a cute girl in a mermaid outfit splashes in and swims around. nice effect and a good complement to the bikini girls and speedo boys on the bar. at one point i went out for a smoke and upon returning, realized that i had missed the free vibrators that a christmas tranny was handing out. sigh.
yes. it's true. i've been too busy to put up my pictures and give the full dirt on the san francisco trip. rest assured, there's plenty of pink bunny suits, filthy hippies, hot tubs, parties, brunches, good times and drama to keep you glued to this spot until i finish my work and post that shniznozz. oh i forgot the booze. sigh. the booze.
i went on the wagon today. as many of you know this is big news and probably deserving of its own entry. however, work is work and this post is nothing if not slack. ahem.
Posted by Pete at 12:49 AM | Comments (5)what happens when you help set up a night of cocktails at summer's house? uh, you have beverages and a swell time. ok, perhaps a whole lot of beverages. everyone's your friend at summer's house!
wow. compare and contrast. house of shields with work pals, old pals, new pals, exotic dancers, mr. lucky and champagne to celebrate frank sinatra's birthday... this slightly tipsy-o-rama was quickly followed by the alex grey acid hippy party in oakland. i think deep down inside they like people spilling vodka on things ;) did someone say mmm hot tubs? i did. mmm hot tubs.
oh dear. what in the hell did i get myself into? i went along as lamont's date to he and greg's company and our customer, atom shockwave's xmas party. i had no idea about the bunny suit. the monkey club is usually fun - open bar makes it better!
back in the fair city of san francisco... but not in time to make it to my company's xmas party. instead, based on a suggestion from summer and marissa, my pal gus and i went to a new restaraunt on howard, town hall, to celebrate xmas, jet lag and to discuss what fun it is to deal with life. the company was friendly, but even giving props to the ambitious menu, the food was not all that. after dinner, i went back to my good friends' bar, the house of shields. it was marissa's birthday and mike was rockin' the decks. much fun was had by all. they even played disco d. sometimes you can go back.
Posted by Pete at 04:26 AM | Comments (4)chicago = delays. get used to the new state of domestic air travel. oh wait, that's the way it's always been. is that fabric ugly or what?
Posted by Pete at 05:04 PM | Comments (5)as it turns out, matt groening is alleged to have gone to my middle school. h.b. woodlawn in arlington, va. given that i cannot confirm or deny that rumor, i can at the very least, paste some great quotes from tonight. enjoy.
"Oh, save me Jebus!" and "I'm not *not* licking toads." - Homer. BABF11 - Missionary: Impossible.
"Whoa, hold on! Once you're up there, you can't come down. Not for a Phish concert, not even for Burning Man." - Jesse. CABF01 - Lisa the Treehugger.
